PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet head equipped with a plate where ink discharge nozzles for discharging ink liquid drops are set, in which a desired point has water repellency (ink repellent properties) and the ink repellent properties to ink liquid drops are maintained even when the ink jet head is used for a long period of time and which can output high-image quality prints, and to provide a method for manufacturing the ink jet head. SOLUTION: Fine particles having a water repellent function are dispersed to at least a region in the vicinity of a surface of the ink discharge side of the plate. The plate is etched with the use of at least two etching conditions having different relations of an etching rate between fine particles in the region in the vicinity of the front face and a part except the fine particles, whereby ink discharge nozzles are bored. At the same time, the plate surface in the periphery of ink discharge opening parts of the ink discharge nozzles are processed to be a face with minute bumps and dents.
