PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a risk potential calculation device for a vehicle for accurately predicting a risk which a driver actually senses. SOLUTION: The risk potential calculation device for the vehicle is equipped with a situation recognition means 10, 20 for detecting condition of the vehicle itself and traveling environment around the vehicle and a risk potential calculation means 50 for calculating risk potential around the vehicle based on detection results of the situation recognition means 10, 20. The risk potential calculation means 50 individually calculates a first risk potential (hereafter referred to as a steady term) in the case that the traveling situation of the vehicle is in a steady state and a second risk potential (hereafter referred to as a transitional term) in the case that the traveling situation of the vehicle is in a transitional state, and calculates risk potential by adding the steady term multiplied by a first coefficient and the transitional term multiplied by a second coefficient.
