PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-pinion type steering device capable of preventing the generation of striking sound when a rack shaft and a pinion shaft collide while improving a steering feeling, an electric power steering device, and a rack displacement adjusting method of the rack-pinion type steering device. SOLUTION: In case that the elastic force of a spring 36 is lowered to lower a sliding load when the rack shaft 12 is made to laterally slide and improve the steering feeling, damping force generated when decrease grease G passes through a groove portion 28 functions as resisting force when the rack shaft 12 moves in the direction separating from the pinion shaft 14, to prevent the movement of the rack shaft 12. Therefore, the rack shaft 12 becomes hard to separated from the pinion shaft 14, and the rack shaft 12 is prevented from colliding with the pinion shaft 14 by being pressed with the elastic force of the spring 36. Consequently, preventing the generation of the striking sound when the rack shaft 12 and the pinion shaft 14 collide and the improvement of the steering feeling are made to be compatible.
