PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid spray nozzle system functioning without clogging a injector tube for a long period. SOLUTION: The fluid nozzle system is provided with a powder injector having the injector tube 50 and and a sleeve 72 wherein the injector tube 50 is received in the sleeve 72 and secured to the sleeve 72. The injector further includes an air gap 76 defined between an inner diameter of the sleeve and an outer diameter of the injector tube wherein the air gap is from 25 to 200 microns. The improved injector is capable of spraying a variety of powder materials including hard and "gummy" powders without clogging for extended periods of time even under a condition that a conventional designed injector is clogged within several minutes. The improved injector allows the use of higher main gas temperatures to achieve improved coating formation and deposition efficiencies. The improved design makes it possible to use the fluid spray system with a wide range of powder materials in a manufacturing setting without interruptions caused by powder injector clogging.
