DEMODULATOR AND METHOD FOR REDUCING A DECISION ERROR

A demodulator and a method for reducing a decision error are provided to obtain low performance deterioration in comparison with a matrix method and to simplify a structure in comparison with a maximum likelihood method. A demodulator for reducing a decision error includes a normalization processor(100), a new decision point calculator(200), a distance calculator(300), a hard decision part(400), and a soft decision part(500). The normalization processor(100) calculates the size of a channel component and compensates the channel size of the input data. The new decision point calculator(200) calculates the size of each channel sample with default decision points to give a new decision point. The distance calculator makes decision by mapping the 0th and 50th data out of 100 complex signals. The hard decision part(400) finds a new decision point with least distance value. The soft decision part(500) determines and outputs a decision boundary value by using distance values between each of two points and the new decision point.
