PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system and a document management device, capable of transmitting document data to a transmission destination according to a transmission purpose without imposing complicated operation on a transmitter of the document data. SOLUTION: In a storage part 20 of this document management system, a purpose record showing correspondence relation between purpose name data showing the purpose of transmitting the document data and the transmission destination according to each the purpose is stored in a purpose information table. When the transmission of the document data is performed, a purpose name data designation dialog receives designation of the purpose name data from the outside. In a control part 10, the transmission destination of the document data of a transmission target is specified from the purpose information table on the basis of the purpose name data designated by the purpose name designation dialog. A transmission processing part 13 transmits the document data to a mail server 300 such that the document data are transmitted to the transmission destination specified by the control part 10.
