METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR COATING GAS TURBINE ENGINES

A method and an apparatus for coating a gas turbine engine are provided to coat a soft layer-thermal protecting coating layer on a portion of a DVC thermal protecting coating layer by separating a spray device from a component by a distance of about 5.08 cm. A coating layer is formed on at least one of components. A spray device is used to perform a high DVC(Density Vertically Cracked) thermal protecting coating layer(100) on at least one portion of the coating layer. The spray device is positioned at a first distance from the component. A soft layer-thermal protecting coating layer(102) is stacked on the DVC thermal protecting coating layer by using the spray device distanced from the second distance. The spray device is separated from the component by a distance of about 5.08cm.
