A method for registering local information through a website map is provided to enable a user to set/register an area for the local information by selecting the area from a map image with a mouse or selecting entire map image, and enable the user to search/display the local information in parallel to the local information of a usual point style. A map service server provides a map service interface capable of searching local information expressed as a point and resizing/displaying a map image including local information on the web(ST10). The map image corresponding to operation of the map search interface is provided to the user terminal. Coordinate information representing an area is calculated by setting a part of the map image, text for discriminating the local information is received from the user terminal, and the coordinate information and the text are registered to a map database as the local information when a registration command is received from the user terminal(S80). The local information having the text matched with a keyword received from the user terminal is searched from the map database, and is displayed as the point or the area in the user terminal(ST100). |
