The invention provides a safety system to be used on barbeque appliances tha t use electronic ignition, push button ignition or/and rotary ignition systems(s), that prevents the operator of the appliance from igniting the appliance when the lid and/o r cover is in the closed position. When the lid and/or cover is in the closed position, a magnetic field is created through "magnetic medium(s)", in which a safety pin is drawn into th e activated/safety on position within the electronic ignition, push button ignition or/and rotary ignition system(s), which prevents the operator of the appliance from successfully depressing and/or rotating the ignition system. When the lid and/or cover is in the open position, this breaks the magnetic field through the "magnetic medium(s)", a nd the safety pin is released by the absence of the magnetic field, and the operator of th e appliance can successfully depress and/or rotate the ignition system.
