PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for the skin, suppressing various kinds of irritations to the skin by improving skin barrier functions by promoting the involucrin production by epidermal cells. SOLUTION: The external preparation for the skin, suppressing the various kinds of the irritations to the skin by improving the skin barrier functions comprises an extract of Leontopodium alpinum having effects for promoting the involucrin production.
