Synthetic polymer nonwoven fabric

The fabric structure of filaments laid in layers with local bonding at points over the cross section, and further filaments drawn through the filament non-woven, has point bonds (3) between separate filament loops of the non-woven (4) which are wholly or partially eliminated where the bonding filaments (2) are inserted. The fabric bonding of the filament layers at these points is wholly through the stitches (5) formed by the bonding filaments. Also claimed is the mfr. of synthetic polymer filaments layered into a non-woven (4), which is then compressed by heat and pressure to form local bonds (3) between the separate loops of the fabric (4). The compressed non-woven is further bonded together by stitches (5) of bonding filaments (2), which eliminate the local bonds (3) wholly or partially at the stitched zones.
