PURPOSE: To accomplish assembly work simply and quickly by eliminating the necessity of tightening the air bag with a temporary tightening nut when the air bag body is riveted and to improve slip-out strength of the air bag body by enabling the edge of the air bag body to be strongly fastened. CONSTITUTION: An air bag device is provided with a gas generator 2 fastened to a base plate 21 and an air bag body 3 fastened to the base plate 21 through a retainer 5 by a plurality of fastening members. The retainer 5 is formed with its section in a recessed shape and the base plate 21 is formed in a flange part 25 by bending its outer periphery to the outer side of the retainer 5. The edge of a gas injection part side of the air bag body 3 is sandwiched between the flange part 25 and the outer side of the retainer 5.
