An instrument for use in the preparation of sterile solutions comprises a block 1 having two substantially parallel bores 6, 7 with a cannula 3, 4 inserted in each bore so as to project from the block, the length of each cannula projecting from its respective bore being at least twice the distance from the central plane of the block to that surface of the block from which the cannula projects. As shown, the instrument is arranged so that a solvent in a bottle 9 can be mixed with a powdered material in a bottle 12 and the instrument is provided with a flange 2 projecting from the block to prevent the instrument being inserted too far through the rubber stoppers 11, 14 on the bottles. The block is of metal or polystyrene or polyacrylonitrile material and the flange 2 may have various specified shapes. The instrument may be supplied (Figure VII, not shown) ready sterilized and with caps covering the cannula and bores.</p> |
