1,264,976. Vein stripping instruments. M. S. KANBAR and J. R. WILDER. 6 March, 1969 [6 March, 1968], No. 11993/69. Heading ASR. A vein stripping instrument comprises a cable 11 of synthetic thermoplastic material, and a pair of guider tips 12, 13, of diameter greater than that of the cable integral with the ends of said cable. The instrument is formed by clamping the end portions of a rod of moulded synthetic thermoplastic material, heating the intermediate section, and drawing the end portions apart to stretch the intermediate section to several times its original length, thereby forming a monofilamentary cable of monoaxial molecular orientation. The synthetic material may be nylon polypropylene, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. Auxiliary tips 14 including a slot (14A), Fig. 4, (not shown) to admit the cable to a central bore (14B) and a socket (14C) to accommodate either of said guider tips, and a handle 15 to grasp the other tip are provided. |
