1281911 Wood preservative composition based on hydrocarbon polymers COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 19 Dec 1969 [3 Jan 1969] 464/69 Heading C3P [Also in Division D1] An organic solvent type wood preservative solution for impregnating wood to preserve it against insect and fungal attack by incorporation into the pores thereof has dissolved therein a water repellant pore-blocking resinous material and a hydrocarbon polymer. Hydrocarbon polymers specified are styrene/butadiene copolymer, polystyrene, polyisobutylene and polybutadiene. The water-repellant pore-blocking resinous material may be for example, a synthetic resin derived from petroleum. The wood preservative substance present in the organic solvent type wood preservative solution may be for example pentachlorophenol, zinc naphthenate, copper naphthenate or tributyltin oxide and the organic solvent may be for example solvent naphtha or white spirit. Preferred amounts of components are between 0À5 and 5À0% by weight of the hydrocarbon polymer, between 2 and 15% by weight of the pore-blocking resinous material and between 75 and 96À5% by weight of organic solvent. "Organic solvent type wood preservative", is defined in Specification 853,089. |
