[Also in Division C3] A cupric salt of a C 5 -C 12 amino-acid or lactam may be prepared by heating a mixture of the acid or lactam and a copper salt to 100- 140‹ C. Copper salts specified are the sulphate, chloride, bromide, acetate, stearate, and salicylate. Acids and lactams specified are #- aminocaproic acid, #-aminoenanthic acid, #-aminocaprylic acid, the lactams thereof and #-amino valeric acid. In Examples 2 and 5 the salts of #-aminocaproic acid with cupric acetate (2) and caprolactam with cupric chloride (5) are isolated by treatment with benzene. |
