The socket 2 of a door handle is secured on the end of a square spindle 4 by a lever 7 lying in a diagonal slot 6 in the spindle and engaging a fulcrum 8, being rotated into the holding position by a set screw 5 in the socket 2 which forces the end of a long arm portion 71 into the bottom of the slot and a short portion 7<11> into the corner of the spindle aperture 3, a recess 14 in the lever being held between retaining projections 15 in the slot 6. The lever 7 is preferably resilient and as shown is made from two sheet metal stampings 7a, 7b placed side by side, or the underside of the lever may have grooves (13), Fig. 7 (not shown), or the lever may be in the form of a leaf spring (7c), Figs. 8-10 (not shown). |
