A steering-wheel assembly for a vehicle comprises a plastically deformable sheet metal member 3 between the steering shaft 1 and a steering wheel comprising a rim 2 connected by short spokes to a padded boss 4 secured to the member 3, wherein the centre 5 of the area of the member 3 nearest the wheel is below the centre of the wheel in the position of the wheel for straight-ahead travel of the vehicle. The member 3 is of oval cross-section, as described in co-pending Specification 1,168,382. The boss 4 may be oval and connected by two spokes to the wheel rim 2, or may be similar to Fig. 2 with the spaces between the boss 4 and the rim 2 modified in shape. |
