1,177,305. Diaphragm press. CINCINNATI MILLING MACHINE CO. 13 Aug., 1968 [21 Aug., 1967], No. 38752/68. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B3] In a diaphragm press, for forming a workpiece 16 against a reciprocable male die 20, the diaphragm 18 is sealingly mounted within the lower end of the pressure chamber 12 by means of a locating member 24 the tapered lower surface 24c of which forces the lip 18a of the diaphragm outwardly into contact with the inner surface 10a of the wall 10 defining the chamber. The diaphragm is urged against the surface 24c by means of a sleeve 22 retained in position by a snap ring 27 and a screw on clamp 28 which urges the ring into its operative position. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 4, not shown) the press is adapted for use with a smaller diaphragm by using a thicker sleeve and by mounting the locating member upon the sleeve instead of from partition 34 located across the top of the chamber. |
