PURPOSE: To obtain the subject medium effectively usable without corroding a copper-based or an iron-based material even at high temperatures for a long time by including lithium bromide and lithium iodide as principal components and containing inhibitors comprising a combination of specific two compounds. CONSTITUTION: This medium is a highly concentrated aqueous solution including (A) lithium bromide and (B) lithium iodide as principal components and containing (C) an alkali hydroxide (preferably lithium hydroxide) and (D) a molybdate (preferably lithium molybdate) as inhibitors. An adding amount of the component C is preferably 0.05-0.2 N and an adding amount of the component D is preferably 50-500ppm. This medium is effectively usable for a long time, e.g. at the working temperature up to 230 deg.C for low carbon steel and at the working temperature up to 160 deg.C for copper. |
