A walking figure toy adapted to walk with a rocking motion comprises weight shifting apparatus responsive to the rooking action and driving apparatus responsive to said weight shifting apparatus for actuating one or more moveable elements, e.g. eyes, eyelids, eyebrows, arms, lips or fingers. In an embodiment, member 226 swings under the influence of weight 248 as the toy walks and rotates gear 168 in a clockwise direction and thereby moves associated gears 150 and 170 to impart predetermined, different motions to the crank pins 194, 196 on their faces. The motion is combined into a single composite motion by member 56 and transmitted' to the eyeball 44 by link 204 and thereby simulates realistic eye movements.
