The slice of a flow-box - for directing stock into the nip between a felt and a wireis formed by two substantially parallel plates 24, 25, and on each side of the slice a sealing strip is provided in contact with the side edges of the plates to seal the slice and to allow the side edges to move with respect to each other so that when the plates are distorted due to the stock pressure they may be distorted uniformly across the width of the machine. Each strip, which is held in a slotted bar secured to the lower casing 29 and urged against a gasket situated between the terminal part 19 and an intermediate part 18 of the flow box, is formed of a substantially friction free material of which several are listed. The gap between the plates may be adjusted by screws 53. The flow-box comprises a transversely extending feed conduit connected to the slice plates through intermediate parts (17), 18 and parallel plates 21, 22 and 26, 27. |
