PURPOSE: To obtain an operating device in which the degree of freedom can be increased in the design by a structure wherein the number of pulses generated from a rotary encoder per one turn of a knob can be set freely and an operating chip for designating the starting operation to play a selected melody can be arranged integrally with the knob. CONSTITUTION: The operating chip unit comprises a knob 3 turnable around an axis, a rotation detecting means 12 for receiving the turning of the knob 3 and outputting a detection signal corresponding to the turning amount of the knob 3, and mechanisms (10), 11 for transmitting the turning of the knob 3 at a predetermined transmission ratio to the means 12. Furthermore, a switch means 22 is provided on the extension of the axis of the knob 3 and the switch means 22 is operated at a central part 4 movable in the axial direction of the knob 3. |
