1,230,185. Polymer compositions. KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 19 Aug., 1968 [19 Aug., 1967], No. 39586/68. Headings C3G and C3P. Polymer compositions comprise 80-99% by wt. of a vinyl chloride polymer and 1-20% by wt. of a resin obtained by graft polymerizing 60-30% by wt. of a monomer mixture of styrene, methyl methacrylate and a minor amount of a cross-linking agent on to 40-70% of a butadiene polymer or butadiene-styrene copolymer in the form of a suspension of particle size 0À2-0À5 micron obtained by adding an acidic coagulant to a latex of the butadiene polymer or copolymer. Preferably the monomers are grafted in two steps the first portion of monomers containing styrene as principal ingredient with methyl methacrylate and the second being methyl methacrylate alone or optionally with a minor amount of styrene, the cross-linking agent being present in both steps. Suitable for the latter are divinyl benzene and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate. The resins are mixed by blending solids or mixing latices. |
