The vessel is particularly for use as a swimming-pool and is constructed by placing a thin skin of welded emtal cladding against a frame of metal profile sections mounted in a foundation strip, and preferably free-standing. This frame absorbs all static loads. The footpath plates at the top of the pool can be designed to absorb all horizontal loads, and the cladding skin can be shaped to cover the top of the frame and form the pool edge. It can extend over the footpath plates and support a grating above the overflow gutter. The grating can be composed of meatl profile sections fixed to the footpath plates.
