<p>Equipment for feeding molten metal to a continuous casting mould, comprising a tundish provided with a stopper and a nozzle which extends from the tundish bottom into the melt in the mould, is designed so that the lower end of the nozzle can be constricted sufficiently to create an overpressure within the nozzle which compensates for contraction of the metal stream cross-section. Specifically, the stopper is extended or a stopper extension is provided to close the nozzle opening almost completely.% Aspiration of air into the vena contracta is prevented so that oxidn. of excess aluminium in the steel being cast and consequent blockage of the nozzle by alumina are avoided.</p> |
