PURPOSE:To form the titled mineral capable of being synthesized efficiently and inexpensively with a small amount of flux and having no crystalline defect by melting a flux interposed between a sintered body rod having the same composition with a zoisite mineral and a seed crystal by irradiating an infrared ray (IR), and growing a crystal. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder having a composition of 6CaO.4Al2O3.Al(OH)3. 9SiO2 obtained by weighing and preparing the powder of starting material is molded and sintered to obtain a starting material rod. Discoid pellets are prepared by molding and sintering a flux having a composition of Li2O.V2O5 and incorporating the above-described mixed powder being equivalent to 20wt%. The above-described flux is arranged between the starting material rod 1 and a seed crystal 2, heated and melt by a halogen lamp 5 in a rotating elliptic mirror 4 of a single crystal manufacturing apparatus by IR concentrated heating (F.Z furnace). Under this condition upper and lower shafts 9, 10 are rotated in counter directions and moved downwards. A zoisite crystal having no inclusions is grown from the seed crystal 2 in the flux. |
