PURPOSE:To print images free of voids with high density and at a high transfer efficiency, by sequentially laminating a thermallay releasable layer and a thermal transfer ink layer on a base. CONSTITUTION:Both a coating material for forming the thermally releasable layer and a coating material for forming a heat-sensitive adhesive layer are provided sequentially on the base by dispersely mixing the respective components in a heated ball mill or attritor or dispersely mixing the components in a solvent and then applying the resultant mixture by a hot melt coater, a solvent or water-base coater to produce the thermal transfer recording medium. When providing a heat-resistant protective layer on the base, components are dispersely mixed in a solvent, and the mixture is applied by a solvent coater to the base on the side opposite to the side of the releasable layer and the adhesive layer, prior to providing the latter layers. The base may be a tissue paper having a thickness of not larger than 20mum or a heat-resistant film having a thickness of not larger than 10mum. A higher fatty acid, a fluoro resin and a silicone resin may be used for forming the heat-resistant protective layer. |
