PURPOSE: To avoid failures such as a short circuit by metal piece in a print head-detachable type printer, by a method wherein when a print head is not mounted and electric contacts with a carriage, etc., are exposed, an electric voltage supply source to the print head is turned off. CONSTITUTION: A detecting circuit to detect whether or not a print head 3 is mounted is provided and a CPU 102 provided on a printer side checks the outputs of the detecting circuit at regular time intervals. When detached state is detected, an electric voltage supply source 101 is turned off by an FET 103 and a transistor 106 and an alarm is displayed on a LED 108. |
