For automatically packing products (14) in packages (9), the products are supplied at a collecting station (2) and the empty packages are supplied at a delivery station (1). The products and the packages are brought together in a packing station (3) comprising a shaft chain device (16, 18, 19) including carrier members (21). The carrier members (21) collect products (14) at the collecting station (2) and move them across a conveyor (6) on which the packages (9) are conveyed. During the movement of the carrier members (21) over the packages located on the conveyor, the products (14) are caused to drop into the packages as a result of the engagement of fingers (26) disposed in the path of movement of the carrier members, against the foremost row of products. The apparatus for automatic packing preferably also has a sealing station (4) with a sealing plate (29) which is fixed to a rotatably mounted ring (27). When the ring (27) is caused to rotate, the sealing plate rotates along with it in a circular sector-shaped path, the cover (12) of the package being folded over and sealed to the bottom part (10) of the package. The terminal end of the conveyor (6) constitutes a discharge station (5) from which the filled and sealed packages can be removed for further handling. |
