PURPOSE: To provide a method for printing and an image printer in which the printing density is linearly increased with the increase in the luminance of an image signal and the printing density faithful in the luminance of the signal can be printed. CONSTITUTION: The method for printing comprises the steps of line setting the printing density of each line in which dots are arranged in a main scanning direction X, and printing the dots along the direction X based on the density of each line set by the line setting step. An image printer comprises a dot setter for setting the printing density of each line of the dots for printing pixels for varying gradation according to the dots to be printed upon formation of predetermined number of the dots arranged in the directing X and sub-scanning direction Y based on the dots supplied from an image signal input terminal 40 and the dots to be printed along the direction X, and a printing unit 2 for printing the dots set by the setter 1 based on the printing density of each line while scanning in the direction X. |
