PURPOSE: To eliminate the adherence of dusts such as edge dusts, etc., and to improve the printing quality by providing a heat sink having a thermal head, and cleaning means disposed substantially in the same plane as the head. CONSTITUTION: A heat sink 18 is moved down toward a sheet at the time of printing, and a thermal head 22 is brought into contact with the sheet via a thermal ribbon. Any dot 22a is selectively energized while scanning a carrier 10, and the predetermined part of the ribbon is melted to print the sheet. Since cleaning means 26 is mounted at the sink 18, the means 26 rises and scans in synchronization with the head 22, and suitably cleans the sheet by a simple structure. The means 26 is mounted at the front position of the head 22 in the scanning direction, and head 22 passes after the means 26 cleans, and hence the possibility of the print failure is further reduced. |
