A device for bracing a hub on a shaft (10) possesses a cone (11) which surrounds the shaft and which is provided with slots (19) for the formation of deformable fingers. A clamping part is to be pushed onto this cone (11) and, in the clamping position, presses the fingers inwards against the shaft (10). The slots (19) are made skew and parallel to one another on the cone (11), and L-shaped slot regions (20) are adjacent to the root ends of the slots (19), so as to form as a whole a U-shaped finger which points with the open U-shape away from the edge of the cone and which is adjacent at one end to the cone root of the cone (11). The device is used especially in the retention and locking of piston rods relative to the piston/cylinder arrangement in a specific piston position. <IMAGE>
