The invention relates to an electric switch for controlling two window/headlight cleaning systems of a motor vehicle, in particular a windscreen cleaning system and a rear window cleaning system. These two window/headlight cleaning systems include a single pump with an electric motor with a reversible direction of rotation, washing fluid being fed to the windscreen when the said motor rotates in one direction and to the rear window when it rotates in the other direction. The switch has an actuation element which can be moved out of a position of rest in a first direction into a first switching position for actuation of the first window/headlight cleaning system and in a second direction into a second switching position for actuation of the second window/headlight cleaning system. A first and a second change-over switch can be adjusted by means of the actuation element, by means of which switches two inputs can be alternately connected to two outputs in the first and in the second switching position, the first change-over switch being closed before the second change-over switch in the case of switching over into the second switching position and being opened after the second change-over switch when the second switching position is left. In order to reduce the possibility of incorrect control, e.g. such that when the rear window cleaning system is activated the windscreen cleaning system also begins to operate, it is intended that the first change-over switch... already in the... before the second...
