A telescopic shaft or a telescopic unit comprises an outer tube and an insert tube B axially displaceable therein, and a cover, which, in a connecting piece 12, receives the uppermost end of the insert tube. As the axially locking rotation bearing between the connecting piece and the insert tube, there is arranged an extruded moulding 18 of round cross section and smooth outer side consisting of a plastics material having good bearing properties and accommodated in an annular track 15, 16 lying partly in the circumferential surface of the connecting piece and partly in the circumferential surface of the insert tube, the track being accessible for introduction of the moulding through a duct 17 which, broadly speaking, is tangentially closed to the annular track and which opens out on the outer or inner side of the connecting piece or insert tube. The insert tube bears with its upper end face 14 against an annular shoulder surface on the cover. <IMAGE>
