PURPOSE: To obtain a picture compressing device which compresses color picture data with relatively simple processing of software. CONSTITUTION: Picture data of a luminance signal Y and color difference signals U and V is acquired from a CCD or the like by a YUV 11 and is divided into 4×4 blocks by a dividing part 121. Block luminance signals ya and yb, block color difference signals (u) and (v), and a bit map bm indicating the distributions of luminance signal components ya and yb are generated from YUV of 16 pixels of blocks by an encoder part 122. The block component of a processing object block Cb is compared with block components of a preceding frame block Pf and preceding, left upper, upper, and right upper blocks Pb, Prl, Pr, and Prr by a compression part 13, and it is encoded to code information indicating the block completely matching with it. In the case of unmatch, it is encoded by code information indicating the most similar block and difference data of the block component. Encoded data is transmitted from a transmission part 14. |
