Composite memory management in asynchronous transfer mode exchange

An age memory (AT) as well as a count memory (CC) is associated with the linked list memory (LL) contg. a location for each block of the buffer memory. A time supervision monitoring unit (US) writes into and reads from both memories (AT,CC) and also enters free memory blocks into a register (EFF). The clocking rate of one counter (Z1) corresponds to the time of transfer of an average-length cell, loading the age memory (AT) and driving a comparator (V).
