PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in color forming sensitivity, good in high speed recording aptitude and high in background whiteness by providing a thermal recording layer containing a specific leuco dye and a specific salicylic acid compd. on a support. CONSTITUTION:3-diamino-6-methyl-7-anilinofluorane, a salicylic acid compd. represented by formula (wherein X, Y and Z are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom and n is an integer of 1-4) and other auxiliary agent are dispersed in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol by predetermined amounts to prepare a coating solution which is, in turn, applied to a support such as paper or synthetic paper and dried to form a thermal recording layer to obtain a thermal recording material. An intermediate layer based on plastic spherical hollow particles can be provided between a support and a thermal color forming layer. This intermediate layer acts as a heat insulating layer and sensitivity is enhanced by the efficient utilization of heat energy. |
