PURPOSE:To obtain the satisfactory image where the discontinuity on the boundary between an error block and peripheral picture element blocks is inconspicuous after interpolation by limiting the frequency band of interpolated image data. CONSTITUTION:An interpolating circuit 112 uses motion vectors of blocks around the error block detected by a motion vector detecting circuit 111 to estimate the motion vector of the error block, and thereafter, the estimated motion vector of the error block is used to rewrite data of the error block stored in a field memory 109 by picture data which is obtained by limiting the band of picture data in a field memory 110 by a two-dimensional digital filter 114, thus interpolating the picture. Since the band of high frequency components is limited by the filter 114, the outline of blocks to be used for interpolation is made dull, and the discontinuity of the image between the interpolated vector and peripheral blocks due to the inaccuracy of the estimated vector is made visually inconspicuous. |
