This invention relates to novel compounds having antihyperglycemic properties of the formula: <IMAGE> where A is <IMAGE> <IMAGE> <IMAGE> wherein: n is 1 or 2; R1 and R3 are independently hydrogen, C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C8 alkoxy, trifluoromethoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl; R2 is hydrogen or methyl; and X is oxygen or sulfur or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
