PURPOSE: To carry out the automatic selection of feeding mode and the changing-over of the feeding mode in response to the selection by a method wherein a means, by which the feeding mode in response to material to be recorded is judged on the basis of the information related to the format of documentary editing, is provided. CONSTITUTION: A means for feeding material to be recorded 2A towards the recording region with a recording head 5 is provided in the recording device 1 for recording with a recording head 5 on the material to be recorded 2A and equipped with a feeding means, which can actuate under a plurality of feeding modes, an inputting means for inputting the information related to the format of documentary editing, a mode judging means for judging the feeding mode in response to the material to be recorded 2A on the basis of the information inputted by an inputting means and a mode setting means for setting the feeding mode of the feeding means on the basis of the judgement obtained with the mode judging means. Thus, the feeding mode in response to the material to be recorded 2A on the basis of the information related to the format of documentary editing is judged and, in response to the feeding mode, the feeding mode can automatically be set. |
