FIELD: peptide chemistry. SUBSTANCE: aspartam is intensive sweetener and is used in medicine, food, pharmaceutical and perfume industries. Known in the art is process for preparing methyl ester of N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L- asparagyl-L-phenylamlamine by condensation of benzyloxycarbonyl-L-asparginic acid and methyl ester of L or DL-phenylalanine used both individually and or components of reaction mixtures in the presence of metalloproteinase followed by recovery of the desired product by addition of acid solution. Novel feature of the claimed invention is addition of acid solution directly to reaction mixture which is formed on completion of condensation reaction. EFFECT: more efficient preparation process of the title compound.
