PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine an angular position of a cylindrical base substance which is optically asymmetrical like an optical fiber on a sectional view by comparing a shape of a profile height curve with that of a simulated and specified typical height curve. SOLUTION: End parts of two optical fibers 1 and 1' are mounted on rotary holders 3. Next, refocusing is done so that a maximal lens effect can be obtained to each fiber end by adjusting a video camera 21. By rotating the rotary holder 3, a rotational angle of the fiber ends is converted to an angle value to be equally dispersed over full one revolution from a starting position. By an image module 25, a height (h) of a light intensity profile analyzes a curve automatically to each angle value, and is also decided by determining the height of the central peak. When a value (h) is decided with respect to the two fiber ends, a calculation is operated to decide a simulated POL profile having a best matching with the measured value of (h). |
