A plastic container having a lid assembly connectable to an open topped box. The lid assembly has an open brim member (15) engageable to the rim of the box (11) and a lid (30) connected to the brim member (15) by a hinge. A torsion spring (45) extending through the axis of the hinge biases the lid (30) into an open position. A catch has an integrally moulded release member (23) connected to the brim member (15) at at least three discrete points. The release member (23) is engageable with a detent on the container lid (30) to hold the lid (30) shut.
