<p>A projection display (1) is mainly composed of a polarized light illuminating apparatus (100), a polarized light beam splitter (200), a reflection liquid crystal device and a projection optical system (500). The polarized light apparatus (100) includes a light source part (110), a first optical element (120) and a second optical element (130). Light emitted from the light source part (110) is split into a plurality of intermediate beams by the first optical element (120) and then converted into polarized light beams having approximately the same polarization direction by the second optical element (130). The polarized light beams are reflected by the beam splitter (200) and modulated by a reflection liquid crystal device (300) and then projected onto a projection surface (600) through the projection optical system (500). With this constitution, the length of the light path is short and light loss is avoided, the illuminance unevenness on the illuminated area is reduced and a bright and high quality projected image with uniform brightness is obtained.</p> |
