A load holder (1) for mounting on a vehicle which is fitted with a towing ball (22). The load holder comprises a frame (5) consisting of several frame parts (6, 7, 8, 9), an element(s) for supporting a load (10, 11, 12, 13) and gripping devices (20, 21) designed to grip the towing ball on two opposite sides of the ball. The frame parts (6, 7, 8, 9) of the load holder are connected to a beam (4) which is also designed to support the gripping devices (20, 21). At least one gripping device (20) is supported in the beam (4) so as to be able to slide and it can be moved using a clamping device (19). The clamping device is supported in the beam and can be locked using a locking device (27). The beam (4) also comprises a movable fork plate (36) which is designed to grip around the shank (35) of the towing ball and which ensures further stability around a transverse axis. The load holder is designed so that it can be swung downwards at the rear, which makes it possible to have access to the vehicle's boot lid/rear hatch. |
