This invention relates to a composition for etching a hard surface such as floors and tiles. The invention has a particular utility as an anti-slip composition, to restore a walking surface to a safe coefficient of friction value, whether the walking surface is wet or dry, as well as as an anti-glare composition. The composition comprises an etchingly effective amount of a dihalide double salt. The term "dihalide double salt" is intended to mean a double salt of a halide and hydrogen halide. The composition also comprises a dihalide double salt activator, the activator comprising a weakly ionized surfactant acid. The composition may also include a thickening agent, a corrosion inhibitor and/or a wetting agent. |
