PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read properly video data from a spliced point. SOLUTION: The server has pluralities of storage means 14-1-14-5 that store divided data in a striped way at a position satisfying a condition under which no image is disturbed when reproducing the compressed video data, and a read means 37 reads video data from a required storage means, assembles the data to obtain contents which starts when a spliced point comes to a head and the contents data read and assembled by the read means 37 are returned to the client.
