PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the temporary stop of display and operation from being caused when a PDP display device is in use in a video processing unit where a timing to read video data from a frame memory can be changed by revising setting values S (data (1), (2), (3)). SOLUTION: A CPU 30 is provided with a difference calculation function that calculates the difference D between a current value and an object value when the current value of a setting value S is changed into the object value, a setting value revision function that compares the absolute value|D|with a parameterα(>0), immediately changes the setting value S from the current value to the object value in the case of|D|<αand changes the setting value S from the current value gradually to the object value until a relation of the|D|<αis obtained in the case of|D|>=αand a read control section 14 that outputs a control signal to a frame memory 10 to read the video data on the basis of an input vertical synchronizing signal and the setting value S and outputs a vertical synchronizing signal (5) whose start timing is synchronized with the read control signal.
