摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid crystal display having good adhe sion and a highly preventive property of gas-permeability and an element for a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: After applying a coating solution containing a silicon compound having an organic functional group represented by the general formula: (R1nSi(R2)4-n (1), wherein R1 is an organic functional group having a methacryloxy group; R2 is one or more hydrolyzable groups selected from an alkoxyl group, an acetoxyl group and chlorine; n is an integer of not more than 3) or the hydrolysis product on a polysulfone resin, a resin substrate suitable for a liquid crystal display coated with silicon dioxide on a primary coat obtained by drying is obtained. Alternatively, after the primary coat is applied with an applying solution containing a plurality of: hydrolizable silicon compounds having a functional group selected from a methacryloxy group, a vinyl group, an allyl group or an amino group; a silicon compound different from each other of their hydrolysis products; and/or their hydrolysis products, the substrate obtained by drying may be used.
